Privacy Policy

You tell us a lot to join SaintlySingles. This policy explains exactly what we collect, why we collect it, who sees it and how long we keep it.

Last updated: 22/10/2026

Privacy Policy Overview

This overview summarises the key points of our privacy practices. The full policy beneath it is the complete, authoritative version.

What we collect

  • Your name, date of birth, location, marital status and a description of yourself.
  • Photos of yourself, and any details you choose to add such as education, occupation, interests and family plans.
  • A government-issued photo ID, and where claimed, proof of membership of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
  • Your messages, reports, get-together attendance and any support correspondence.
  • Device, browser and approximate location data, logs of how you use the app, and diagnostic information to keep the service stable.

Why we use it

  • To verify that you are a real person, are legally single and are who your profile says you are.
  • To show your profile to other members, match you with people, and let you message and meet.
  • To keep the community safe — moderation, investigating reports and preventing fraud or impersonation.
  • To provide support, process payments where applicable, and improve the app.

We ask for your consent to collect this information, and identity documents are collected on the basis that you provide them voluntarily for verification.

Sensitive information and identity documents

A government-issued ID and proof of Church membership are sensitive information. We collect them only to confirm your identity and membership, we restrict access to the small team who perform verification, and we do not use them for advertising or sell them. Documents are deleted once verification is complete, or when your account ends, unless we are required to keep them.

Who we share it with

  • Service providers who host our data, process payments, send transactional email and provide customer support, under contract.
  • Professional advisers, and authorities where we are compelled by law or need to protect someone from harm.
  • Other members — only the profile details you choose to publish, and the messages you send.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers.

Storage and how long we keep it

Your information is stored on secure servers and protected by encryption in transit and at rest, access controls and audit logging. We keep your account information while your account is open. If you delete your account, we remove your profile and photos and then delete the remaining personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must retain records for legal, tax or safety reasons.

Your choices and rights

  • Access, correct or update the information you have given us from within your profile.
  • Delete your account at any time from the app settings.
  • Ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it.
  • Complain to us first; if you are not satisfied you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (Australia) or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner (New Zealand).

To make a request, email support@saintlysingles.app. We may need to confirm your identity before we respond.

Children

The service is for adults aged 18 and over and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. Where changes are significant we will tell you in the app or by email, and the "last updated" date at the top of this page will change.

We do not use identity verification photographs or government identification documents for advertising or unrelated commercial purposes.

We aim to collect only the verification information reasonably necessary for these purposes and to retain it only for as long as justified by operational, safety and legal requirements.

06

Religious Information and Church Affiliation

SaintlySingles is built around a community where shared religious values are important.

We may ask members about their affiliation with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and related information, including Church activity and temple-related status.

This information may be used to:

  • Help members identify others who share their faith and values.
  • Support compatibility preferences and profile filters.
  • Provide appropriate community experiences.
  • Help verify information voluntarily submitted during registration.

We will not contact a member's ward, stake, bishop or other Church representative to request confidential information without appropriate authority and any necessary consent.

  • Members must respect the privacy of other participants.

Recording, photographing, reproducing or distributing another member's private conversations or event participation without appropriate consent is prohibited by our Community Standards.

Official recording of an event, if offered, will be disclosed to participants in advance, with any consent required by applicable law.

08

When We Share Information

We may share information only when reasonably necessary for operating and protecting SaintlySingles or as otherwise permitted or required by law.

This may include sharing information with:

Service Providers

Approved providers who assist with hosting, account verification, payment processing, communications, technical services, security and customer support.

Other Members

Information you make available through your profile, messages, connections and event participation.

When required by applicable law, lawful legal process or when otherwise legally permitted to respond to serious safety concerns, fraud or suspected criminal activity.

Business Transfers

If SaintlySingles undergoes a merger, acquisition, restructuring or sale of business assets, personal information may be transferred subject to applicable privacy protections and notification requirements.

We require service providers handling personal information on our behalf to apply appropriate confidentiality and security safeguards.

We do not sell members' private messages, identification documents or verification images.

09

International Storage and Transfers

SaintlySingles is operated by a company based in the United States and initially serves members primarily in Australia and New Zealand.

Personal information may be stored, processed or accessed in the United States, Australia, New Zealand or other countries where approved service providers operate.

Privacy laws and protections can differ between countries.

Where applicable, we take reasonable steps to ensure that overseas recipients protect personal information in accordance with relevant legal requirements, including the Australian Privacy Principles and New Zealand's Privacy Act 2020.

These steps may include appropriate contractual safeguards, restrictions on access and use, security reviews and other lawful transfer arrangements.

Where a particular international transfer requires informed authorisation or consent, we will provide the necessary information and obtain that authorisation or consent.

10

  • Procedures for responding to suspected security incidents

No internet-based service can guarantee complete security.

Members also play an important role in protecting their accounts by using secure passwords, protecting login credentials and reporting suspicious activity.

If a data breach occurs, we will investigate and make notifications to affected individuals and relevant authorities where required by applicable law.

We may take reasonable steps to verify your identity before responding.

We will respond within the timeframes required by applicable privacy laws.

12

Account Deletion and Data Retention

Copies independently saved by other members are outside our direct control.

Data held in system backups may remain until the applicable backup retention period expires, subject to appropriate access restrictions.

SaintlySingles will establish retention periods appropriate to each category of information, taking particular care to minimise the retention of identity documents and sensitive verification materials.

People under 18 are not permitted to register or participate.

We may require reasonable age verification and may suspend or terminate accounts where age eligibility cannot be established.

If we become aware that a person under 18 has registered, we will take appropriate steps to close the account and delete associated information, subject to any necessary legal or safety retention requirements.

  • Use information obtained through SaintlySingles for unsolicited commercial solicitation or unrelated purposes.

SaintlySingles may investigate reported violations and suspend or terminate accounts when justified.

Identity verification, moderation and reporting tools help reduce risk but cannot eliminate every risk associated with online interaction or in-person meetings.

Members should exercise appropriate judgement when communicating or arranging to meet.

16

Marketing and Service Communications

We may send essential communications relating to your account, including verification requests, security alerts, service updates, billing notices and important policy changes.

We may separately offer information about events, membership features, promotions or other community opportunities.

Where required by law, promotional communications will be sent only with appropriate consent and will include a way to unsubscribe.

Opting out of promotional communications does not prevent necessary administrative or security notifications.

17

Third-Party Websites and Services

SaintlySingles may contain links to third-party websites, payment providers or external event services.

Those services may operate under their own terms and privacy policies.

We encourage members to review the privacy practices of any third-party service before providing personal information.

18
